Future Hiking

Now that I have had a good start to the 2006 Hiking season it is time to keep going.

Saturday, June 3, 2006 - Wascootch Ridge or Opal Ridge.

My friend Mark wants to hike Wascootch ridge with out leaving the ridge. There is one spot you have to climb around. Last year when I soloed the ridge I ended hiking one section 3 times because I missed the trail to hike around and had to hike back along the ridge to find it. Mark has some rock climbing experience and is bringing a rope to help us get down the crux. It is only a 25 ft cut in the ridge. If there is too much snow on the ridge we are going to take a look at Opal Ridge and if it is raining Grizzly Creek.

Sunday, June 4, 2006 - Mt. Baldy

Since I did not get to climb this mountain in April, too much snow. I am planning this for this weekend.
This mountain has three variations on it that I know of:

  1. We can do the classic Scramble route and return.
  2. Hike up to Baldy Pass, then climb up from there and down the classic route.
  3. Climb up the classic scramble route and continue along the ridge line towards Badly pass. But take a side trip to the last summit and then down the bowl to the start location.

Any variation other than 1 has bit of tricky climbing involved.

Scramble Details:
Distance: unknown
Gain: 700 m
High Point: 2192 m
Difficulty: Moderate

Saturday, June 10, 2006 - Nihani Ridge Traverse

This trip has been put on by one of my fellow CORE hikers. This is a new mountain for me.

Sunday, June 11, 2006 - Opal Ridge or Wasootch.

Depending on which ridge we do on June 3 will determine which one gets done today. Of course the one that did not get done. I may even decide to go up Grizzly creek instead.
