Today I need a slow day, there is not much ready for hiking this early in the season. There is still too much snow in the Lake Louise area. So I am going to do an easy hike up the East shore of Lake Miniwanka.

Sunday, June 5, 2005 - Mt. Yamnuska(Mount Laurie).

So who is up for some more mountains this upcoming weekend. Nothing as strenuous as last weekend. This the usual time I traverse Yamnuska so if you are up for an early start, lets get together on Sunday and head for the summit.

Note: Don't let the book rating scare you the down climb has turned into a cable assisted traverse. A lot easier that the down climb. There are 3 sections of skree so bring you gaiters.

I feel like getting into Banff NP again. Since the weather is going to better today than Sat. I am going to try a old summit, for me. Mount Bourgeau. I know here is going to be snow and mud on the trail, that's half the fun. If the weather gets too bad there are lots of places to turn around like Bourgeau Lake, and Harvey Pass.

Friday, July 1, 2005 - Mt. Lady MacDonald

I continue with my annual tradition of climbing up on Lady Mac on the same day each year. This mountain has a knife edge on it that is best traveled with the aid of ropes. I have made it to this true summit without ropes. If the weather is against me I will stop at the teahouse foundation, if there is rain I will eat lunch in the Gazebo just down from the teahouse foundation, As I have done before.

I have been thinking of hiking up to this lake for a few years now. To get there one hikes along the north shore of Upper Kananaskis Lake to the bike rack and then follows the creek north. I has the potential for some bushwhacking and maybe getting lost. Sounds like fun to me.

Since I have been invited to join Tanya & Mark on a trip to the ACC hut Stanly Mitchell. To get a earily start I have decided to car camp in the Lake Louise or Field area so I an meet them at the trail head bright and earily saturday morning.

Saturday, October 1, 2005 - Panorama Ridge

On Saturday I want to complete a hike we did last year, but had problems with it. The hike is from Taylor Lake to Moraine Lake, or the other way around. To do it you need 2 cars, so I need some help. Plus last year we got lost twice. I hope not to repeat it this year. If we follow the trail correctly we will be in larches from one end to the other of the ridge, that is in larches for over 7 km. The whole trip is 10 Km long.
