The end of the pine forest is signaled with a short down climb. From here you traverse along the ramparts of Mt. Edith, the pass is in sight, it is going to take a while to get there. At the pass you will can stop for a bite to eat while enjoying the surrounding mountains with such names as Mt. Cory, Mt. Edith and Mt. Louis, one of the most spectacular vertical lifted rocks, I have every seen. After your break for lunch you will continue down to an exotic valley call Gargoyle Valley, traversing a skree slope to get there. Now it is back into the trees for the rest of the trip. I the day is Hot this is something to be thankful for. This trail exits the forest to meet up with the outbound trail just 1 km from the parking lot. On Monday you can say to all you coworkers that you climbed around a mountain today. The mountain of course is Mt. Edith.

Trip Details:
Today I continue with my annual tradition of climbing on this mountain on the same day each year. Since I moved to Canmore I can look at the mountain every day. It is clear right to the top. This mountain has a knife edge on it that is best traveled with the aid of ropes. I have made it to this true summit without ropes, today do not know how far I will go. If the weather is against me I will stop at the teahouse foundation, if there is rain I will eat lunch in the Gazebo just down from the teahouse foundation.
